Arrests There were 23 arrests made across the district last week.
Appeals Emergency services responded to the incident on Wallsend Road shortly after midnight on Friday 10 July. The rider – a 28-year-old man from Reigate – sustained serious injuries, while the passenger – a 19-year-old woman from Croydon – sustained serious and life-threatening injuries. Both were taken to hospital for treatment, where the passenger remains in a critical condition; the rider has since been discharged. Our officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant information such as CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward. Information can be reported to Sussex Police, by calling 101 or by emailing: collisionappeal@sussex.police.uk and quoting Operation Redman.

Officer and bystander bravery saves man from burning car. Teamwork and bravery from a police constable, a paramedic and two members of the public saw a man saved from a burning car in Piltdown.
On Sunday 19 July at around 11.40pm, an PC Kenneth Wells was driving in Goldbridge Road, Piltdown when he discovered a car had collided with a tree and caught alight.
PC Wells and one member of the public at the scene attempted to extinguish the fire, but the vehicle reignited.
Quick thinking and selfless bravery by both PC Wells and another member of the public saw a man pulled from the car to safety moments before both the vehicle and tree were engulfed in flames.
An off-duty paramedic at the scene began treating the man until an ambulance arrived and he was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
No other injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made at this time.
While Sussex Police would never encourage any member of the public to put themselves in harm’s way, our thanks goes to the men, and the paramedic who stepped in to help for their courage and assistance.
Police are conducting an ongoing investigation and encourage anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has relevant information such as dashcam or mobile footage to report it to us by online or by calling 10, quoting serial 1794 of 19/07.
